BIG FACTS:ย Never forget, Cultured Diapersยฎ
was founded during our old schooler's sophomore year in college :)

#Matter2Matter:ย THIS DIAPER REPS A DIFFERENT OPTION...

I have to take you backย โช to around the year 2000. I was about 6 years old when I watchedย A Different World for the first time. It was season 6 &
I couldn't tell you how many episodes I watched that day... (only the TV GUIDE knows) but what I do remember is watching the last episode like it was yesterday.

It was different, different then the adult lives I saw around me. And, different from what I believed was possible. It was my first introduction to college.
I remember telling my older brother, "I wanna to go to college like mama." Without missing a beat he said, "mama ain't go to no college!"ย  Well, that little conversation
in front of the TV changed my whole world
! In that moment, I found out there was a different option. For the first time, (in all of my 6 years) reality interrupted my world.
I wasn't disappointed. It's just until that moment after seeing the show I assumed everyone did because that's what the TV showed. But, I realized:
some people went & some people didn't. Life could go either way. So, I chose in that moment the different option
aka the one I didn't know was an option.ย

LONG STORY SHORT

Fast forwardย โฉย  (such & such years later)...

I became a first generation high school & college graduate. So, this diaper is personal!
It represents a different option, a different way, & a different path for me.ย

THIS DIAPER REPS A DIFFERENT OPTION.

ย IT REPS DREAMING BEYOND YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.ย

IT REPS THE FREEDOM TO IMAGE A DIFFERENT FUTURE.

AND MORE THAN ANYTHING, IT REPSย THE POWER OF REPRESENTATIONโ€ผ๏ธ

Quick Thoughts:ย

As I've gotten older, I've realized something else. We spend so much time talking about how media influences people in negative ways...ย  I'm a testament to what can happen when thingsย are created with intention ( ๐Ÿ”Œ like our cultured diapersยฎ)! When television isn't just trying to "make tv" or entertain just for the ratings...ย

but, the kind of television that actually has the intent to tell a story that canย expand someone's imagination & maybe be the catalyst for a different trajectory in someone's life.

Hillman College was fictional. But, the dream it gave me was REAL!

Hillman became the placeholder for my future. Longgggg before I knew where I would actually go, or do, or be. I didn't know the process... like I said, I'm a first-gen high school & college graduate. So, the "how" was unclear. I didn't know what obstacles stood in front of me. I just knew one thing: I had A DIFFERENT OPTION & that my life could look different. That dream became something I carried with me through every setback! And, I mean everyyyy because their were many.

Through every statistic. Through every circumstance that suggested my story should end differently. It gave me an end goal before I even knew how to get there. It gave me drive. It gave me ambition. It gave me something to look forward to.

Looking back, I realize Hillman wasn't introducing me to college. It was introducing me toย possibility! I hope like Hillman that this diaper reps every child who saw something on screen & quietly though, "maybe my life could look like that too." Sometimes the greatest gift we can give a child isn't "the answer." It's a picture of what's possible.ย
